A Trouble Free PC - starts here

a poorly pcWindows isn't the best product for the job but in the old days every computer was shipped with a version of Microsoft operating system, unless it was an original IBM PC and not a clone. So for most of us it was Windows and DOS or nothing. As the flavours of the GUI changed from 32 bit, to 95, then 98, each with their own versions and now on to the offerings of Windows 2000 also with several versions to suite your wallet.

These pages are not intended to be why, where, when or what of MS only an assuring guidance to you who need it.

Knowing what you have got inside your computer system case is necessary if you are to do any upgrade of either the software or hardware. This includes adding applications or games for example, because you need to know your that machines specification matches or betters the softwares specification. (One major pitfall that most new users make).

The ins, outs and processing that your computer does from day to day is mainly self sufficient and able to maintain an operating system, however as you add, remove and edit files on your hard disk of which the operating system has limited control, you need to know what is required so as to avoid ending up with a machine that drags its heels or regularly performs illegal operations, blue screens of death or just plain locks up.

Keeping the software up to date is important if you use your machine for me then just fun. This includes new versions of programs that you have installed to use yourself, drivers supplied with your hardware devices, files that came as part of Windows and so on. New software bugs are always being discovered and hopefully corrected, as well as new features or enhancements and improvements so updates are important and should offer a more stable system.

Read my trouble free tips and get clued.
